Why Does Grief Still Hurt So Much? - Wednesday, 05/06/2026
Scripture: John 11:32–36
Grief has a way of catching us off guard. It shows up in quiet moments—a song, a memory, an empty chair. Even years later, it can still feel close.
In this passage, Jesus stands at the tomb of a friend. He knows what he is about to do. He knows death is not the end of the story. And still—he weeps.
Those two words matter. They remind us that grief is not something to rush past or explain away. It is something to feel. Something to honor.
If you have ever wondered whether God understands your grief, this moment answers that question. God does not stand at a distance. God enters into the pain.
That means your grief is not a sign of weakness. It is a reflection of love. And it is something God meets with compassion, not judgment.
Reflection Question: What grief are you still carrying?
Action Step: Take time today to name one loss and allow yourself to feel it without rushing past it.
Prayer: God, meet me in my grief and remind me I am not alone. Amen.
