WHEN GOD MEETS US IN OUR FEAR
Scripture: Luke 1:11–17, 29–30
When the angel appears to Zechariah—and later to Mary—the first words spoken are the same: “Do not be afraid.” God knows the human heart well. Fear is a natural reaction when life moves in unexpected ways.
The angel doesn’t dismiss their fear or criticize them for feeling it. Instead, the angel speaks into the fear with truth and reassurance. Peace doesn’t require the absence of fear, but it does require the presence of God’s voice—gentle, steady, trustworthy.
We often hide our fears or pretend they don’t exist. But peace begins when we let God into the places that frighten us most: our uncertainty, our vulnerability, our worries about our families, health, or the world. God moves toward those places, not away.
Reflection Question:
What fear is standing between you and God’s peace right now?
Action Step:
Write one fear on a slip of paper. Pray over it. Fold it and set it in a place where you symbolically give it to God.
Prayer:
God who calms fear, meet me in my uncertainty and guide me toward Your peace. Amen.
