Scripture: Isaiah 43:18–19 (NRSV)
Do not remember the former things… I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
Abram leaves home. Nicodemus leaves certainty. Scripture consistently shows that new beginnings require release.
We cannot carry every old identity, regret, habit, or grievance into the future God is forming. Some things must be laid down — even good things — to make room for what is next.
God promises to do a new thing. But we must be willing to loosen our grip on the former things.
Beginning again requires both trust and surrender.
Reflection Question:
What might you need to release to make space for God’s new work?
Action Step:
Write down one habit, fear, or resentment you need to release. Tear up the paper as a physical sign of letting go.
Prayer:
God of new things, loosen my grip on what no longer gives life. Make space in me for what you are creating. Amen.
