Known and Loved — Thursday, 05/14/2026

Scripture: Isaiah 49:15-16

“Can a mother forget her child?”

The prophet Isaiah uses one of the strongest images of love people can imagine: a mother caring for her child. And then God says, “Even if that were possible, I will not forget you.”

Many people struggle to believe they are truly loved by God. Some feel they have failed too much. Others carry shame, regrets, wounds, or fears they rarely speak aloud.

In a culture where people constantly feel pressured to prove themselves, compete, perform, and defend their worth, Isaiah speaks a deeply healing truth: God has not forgotten you.

You are not invisible to God.
You are not disposable.
You are not beyond compassion.

That matters because fear often grows out of insecurity. When we feel unloved or threatened, we become more defensive and reactive. We protect ourselves at all costs.

But when we know we are deeply loved by God, something begins to loosen inside us. We become less afraid. Less guarded. More capable of extending grace to others.

God’s love is not fragile. It does not disappear when life gets messy.

And that means we can stop living like fear has to control us.

Reflection Question: What would change in my life if I truly believed God has not forgotten me?

Action Step: Write the phrase “God has not forgotten me” somewhere you will see it throughout the day.

Prayer: Faithful God, remind me that I am deeply known and loved by you, and help that truth reshape the way I live and love. Amen.
