Your Real Life Belongs in Prayer - Friday, 06/19/2026

Scripture: Mark 14:32–42

In Gethsemane, Jesus does not pray a calm, polished prayer. He is distressed and deeply grieved. He asks for the cup to be removed, and still he offers himself to God’s will.

That means honest prayer is faithful prayer. Jesus brings fear, grief, longing, surrender, and trust all into the same conversation with God. He does not edit out the anguish. He does not pretend everything is fine.

If Jesus could bring anguish to the Father, you can bring your real life to God too. Not the edited version. Not the spiritual-sounding version. Your real life.

Prayer is not where we hide what hurts. Prayer is where we bring what hurts into the presence of the One who loves us.

Reflection Question: What part of your real life have you been hesitant to bring honestly to God?

Practice: Write one honest sentence-prayer today. Begin with, “God, here is what I am really carrying…”

Prayer: Loving God, help me bring my real life to you. Teach me to trust you with my fear, grief, longing, and hope. Amen.
