Scripture: Luke 24:28–35 (click to read)

Key Verse: “When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him.” (Luke 24:30–31)

Two disciples walked toward Emmaus, brokenhearted after Jesus’ crucifixion. As they walked, a stranger joined them, listening to their pain and confusion. They didn’t recognize that it was Jesus walking beside them. Only later, at the dinner table—when he took bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to them—did they finally see who he was.

Sometimes it’s not in the miracles or the big moments that we experience Christ’s presence—it’s in the ordinary act of eating together. At the table, hearts open. Strangers become friends. Grief gives way to recognition. Meals can become sacred moments of revelation.

Maybe God is waiting to meet you, not just in church, but at your kitchen table—through laughter, gratitude, and shared bread with someone else.

Reflection Question: When have you felt God’s presence most clearly during a simple, ordinary moment like a meal?

Action Step: Set aside one meal this week to eat slowly, with gratitude, inviting God to open your eyes to divine presence in the ordinary.

Prayer: Loving God, thank You for meeting us in simple moments. Help me to slow down, share my table, and see You in the breaking of bread. Amen.
