When Fear Speaks First — Monday, 04/27/2026

Scripture: Psalm 56:3–4, 10–11

Fear often doesn’t wait its turn. It shows up quickly—before we’ve had time to reflect, before we’ve had time to pray. It tells a story about what might happen, what could go wrong, and how we might not be able to handle it.

The psalmist offers a different pattern. “Whenever I am afraid…” That’s honest. There’s no pretending fear isn’t real. But the next phrase is just as important: “I put my trust in you.” Fear may come automatically, but trust is something we choose.

Over time, trust can become a habit. Not something we reach for only in crisis, but something that shapes how we live daily.

Reflection Question: What fear keeps repeating itself in your thoughts lately?

Next Step: When that fear shows up today, pause and say out loud: “God, I trust you here.”

Prayer: God, fear comes quickly and often. Teach me to turn toward you just as quickly. Help trust become my first response. Amen.
