Sunday, February 22 – The First Voice

Scripture Reading: Genesis 3:1–7
(Narrative of the serpent’s question and the choice in the garden)

From the very beginning, life has been shaped by voices. In the garden story, the first move wasn’t force. It was a question: “Did God really say…?” Doubt entered not through shouting, but through suggestion.

The most dangerous voices in our lives rarely sound loud or evil. They sound reasonable. Curious. Almost helpful. “Are you sure?” “Don’t you deserve more?” “You’re missing out.” These whispers reshape what we thought we knew.

Every day, we face competing narratives—about who we are, what will make us happy, what matters most. Some voices pull us toward trust, clarity, and peace. Others pull us toward fear, comparison, and restless striving.

The question is not whether voices are speaking. The question is: Which one will you trust?

Reflection Question:
What voice has been shaping your decisions lately?

Action Step:
Write down one recurring thought you’ve been hearing internally this week. Ask: Does this voice lead me toward life or toward anxiety?

Prayer:
God, quiet the noise around me. Help me recognize the voice that leads toward life and peace. Give me courage to trust what is true.
