PRACTICING PEACEMAKING

Scripture: Matthew 5:1–9

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount reframes what it means to be people of God. In a world marked by conflict and division, Jesus blesses the peacemakers—those who move toward healing rather than away from difficulty.

Peacemaking takes courage. It requires listening when we’d rather speak, staying when we’d rather avoid, and forgiving when we’d rather hold on to hurt. It doesn’t ignore reality—it transforms it.

Advent peace is not a passive peace. It is peace that leans into compassion, justice, and relationship. It is peace that seeks understanding rather than victory. This kind of peace looks like Jesus—and it is the kind our world desperately needs.

Reflection Question:
Where is God nudging you to step toward peacemaking—not just peacekeeping?

Action Step:
Reach out kindly to someone where tension exists—through a message, conversation, or gesture of goodwill.

Prayer:
God of Peace, give me courage to step toward healing and not away from it. Amen.
