Our Father, Not My Father - Wednesday, 06/17/2026

Scripture: Ephesians 2:13–22

Jesus teaches us to pray, “Our Father,” not simply “my Father.” That one word changes everything.

Prayer is personal, but it is never only private. When we say “our,” Jesus widens the circle. We remember that the person across the aisle, the neighbor we do not understand, the family member who frustrates us, the stranger in need, and even the person we would rather avoid is also someone God loves.

Ephesians says Christ is our peace and has broken down the dividing wall between people. That means prayer should slowly reshape how we see others. If God is “our” Father, then I am not the only child God loves. I belong to God, and so do they.

Reflection Question: Who is included in “our” that you may be tempted to forget or exclude?

Practice: Pray “Our Father” slowly. Then name one person or group you struggle to love, and ask God to help you see them as God’s beloved child.

Prayer: Our Father, widen my heart. Help me remember that I belong to you, and so do the people I find difficult to love. Amen.
