Scripture: Acts 2:1–4
Before Pentecost, the disciples were gathered behind closed doors. Fear had shaped their lives after Jesus’ death. Uncertainty filled the room. They did not know what would happen next.
Then the Spirit came like wind and fire.
Pentecost reminds us that God does not leave people trapped in fear forever. The Holy Spirit moves people outward—toward courage, connection, compassion, and purpose.
Many people today live emotionally behind closed doors too. Fear of rejection. Fear of conflict. Fear of change. Fear of failure. Fear of the future. But the Spirit keeps opening windows we thought had been sealed shut.
The Spirit does not erase personality or difficulty overnight. Instead, the Spirit slowly transforms ordinary people into people capable of greater love, courage, generosity, and hope.
Tomorrow we celebrate Pentecost—the reminder that God is still breathing new life into tired hearts and fearful communities.
Maybe this is a weekend to open the windows of your life a little wider.
Maybe God still has more freedom, healing, courage, and joy to pour into you than you expected.
Reflection Question: What part of your life feels closed off right now?
Action Step: Come to worship tomorrow expecting God to speak, move, challenge, encourage, or renew something in your life.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, breathe fresh courage and life into me again. Open what fear has closed. Amen.
