Love Pays Attention - Wednesday, 08/19/2026

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4–7

It's easy to hear 1 Corinthians 13 and think of grand romantic gestures. But look closer, and almost every quality Paul names shows up in small, daily moments: patience with someone who's slow to get to the point, kindness when you're tired, not keeping score of who did what last. Love, in this passage, is mostly about attention — choosing to stay present with someone instead of checking out.

This week's practice, CONNECT, is really just this passage in motion. Ten undistracted minutes with someone you love is patience made visible. It's love refusing to be easily distracted, easily annoyed, or too busy to notice another person.

Reflection Question:  Which quality in this passage — patience, kindness, not being easily angered, not keeping score — is hardest for you to practice at home right now?

Today's Application:  Give one person ten minutes today with your phone in another room. No fixing, no multitasking — just attention.

Prayer:  God, love that pays attention doesn't come naturally to us on busy days. Slow us down. Help us notice the people right in front of us today. Amen.
