Let the Prayer Review Your Day – Friday, 08/14/2026

Scripture: Psalm 139:1–12, 23–24

Psalm 139 is honest and intimate. The psalmist trusts that God knows us completely: our words, our thoughts, our movements, our fears, our paths, and even the places we would rather hide.

That kind of being known can feel uncomfortable at first. But the psalm is not about God watching us with suspicion. It is about God knowing us with love.

At the end, the psalmist prays:

Search me.
Know me.
Lead me.

That is a good evening prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer can help us review the day in God’s presence.

“Our Father…”
Where did I notice God near today?

“Hallowed be thy name…”
What was good, holy, or beautiful?

“Thy kingdom come…”
Where did I see mercy, justice, welcome, or love? Where did I resist it?

“Daily bread…”
What did I receive? What did I need? Who needed care?

“Forgive us…”
Where do I need mercy? Where do I need to offer mercy?

“Lead us…”
What pulled me away from God’s way? Where do I need guidance tomorrow?

“Thine is the kingdom…”
What do I need to release back into God’s hands?

This is not about shaming yourself at the end of the day. It is about letting God lovingly help you notice, receive, release, and begin again.

Practice: Tonight, pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly as a review of your day. Pause after each line and ask: “What is God helping me notice?”

Prayer: God who knows me and loves me, search my heart with mercy. Help me notice where I received grace, where I resisted love, where I need forgiveness, and where I need guidance. I release this day into your hands and trust you for tomorrow. Amen.
