Scripture: 2 Kings 6:8–23 (click to read)

Key Verse: “He prepared a great feast for them, and after they had finished eating and drinking, he sent them away, and they returned to their master. So the bands from Aram stopped raiding Israel’s territory.” (2 Kings 6:23)

The prophet Elisha’s city was surrounded by enemy soldiers. But instead of calling for revenge, Elisha prayed for their eyes to be opened. When the soldiers realized they were in his power, he didn’t harm them. Instead, he set food before them and sent them home in peace. The result? The raids stopped.

What a surprising response! God turned hostility into hospitality. The table became a place of reconciliation.

In a world quick to fight, meals can be acts of peace. When we eat with someone we disagree with, we declare that relationship matters more than being right. God’s love is big enough to seat everyone.

Reflection Question: Who might God be calling you to reconcile with—or at least share kindness with—this week?

Action Step: Write a note or send a message of peace to someone you’ve had tension with. Pray for them as if they were your dinner guest.

Prayer: God of mercy, help me turn conflict into compassion. Teach me to see every person as someone worthy of grace and welcome. Amen.
