Do Not Fight Alone - Thursday, 07/30/2026

Scripture

Ecclesiastes 4:9–12; Galatians 6:1–5

One of temptation’s most effective strategies is isolation.

It tells us:

Keep this hidden.
No one would understand.
You should be strong enough to handle it.
People will think less of you if they know.

Secrecy gives harmful patterns room to grow.

Ecclesiastes says two are better than one because when one falls, the other can help them rise. Galatians tells the church to restore someone gently and to carry one another’s burdens.

That does not mean everyone needs to know everything. Trust should be earned, and some struggles require professional help. But almost no one becomes healthier by staying completely alone.

Prayer is never merely “Lead me.” Jesus teaches us to pray, “Lead us.”

We need communities where people can say:

I am struggling.
I need help.
Please pray for me.
Please ask me about this again.
I cannot do this by myself.

Accountability is not about control or humiliation. Healthy accountability is another person helping us remember the life we truly want.

Sometimes deliverance comes through a miracle.

Sometimes it comes through a counselor, recovery group, friend, physician, sponsor, pastor, or family member who helps us take the next step.

Practice

Identify one trusted person with whom you can be honest.

Share one area where you need prayer, encouragement, or accountability. Ask them to check in with you again.

Prayer

God of community,
free me from the belief that I must face every struggle alone. Give me wisdom to choose trustworthy companions and humility to ask for help. Make me gentle and dependable when others trust me with their burdens. Amen.
