Ministry Of Missions
Angel Tree Evangelism – Annually we
participate in this vital ministry to children of prisoners and their
families. This ministry helps families
stay connected especially at Christmas, and shares with them the Good News of
God’s love. Through the program each
child receives two wrapped gifts from their parent via our congregation—one
of clothing and the other a toy/game with the angel tag attached to each
gift. We engage families in Mason,
Lebanon, Trenton, Middletown and Franklin.
For more information visit www.angeltree.org
Children and Families - We support
ministries that reach out to provide childcare/preschool for financially
challenged families like Butler County Head Start. Annually, we supply these families with a
Thanksgiving dinner. We also help
support the Butler County Success Program's Summer Sack
Lunch Ministry. This is a growing
area ministry that addresses the needs of children and youth in our area
during the summer months.
Cuba Ministry - La Senda Antigua is a Spirit-filled,
growing community of Christ believers in Jovellanos,
Matanzas Cuba. The ministry was launched with six friends in January, 2011.
Within 5 months, the group had grown to nearly 100 strong. Husband and wife
Pastors José Santiago and Yamile Cruz have
dedicated their lives since their teenage years to the cause of bringing
people to salvation in Jesus Christ, having separately and together founded
missions and pastured churches in North Central Cuba. We are working to
support this effort in this neighboring country.
Disaster Response and Crisis Relief – By way of our
West Ohio Conference Committee on Relief we support and contribute to those
who have experience tragedy and crisis.
Whether it is Hurricane Katrina or Haiti style earthquakes we roll up
our sleeves and reach out with clean-up buckets, health kits, money, and
support teams.
Food Pantry Support – We strive to
provide assistance for food, evictions, utility disconnections, dental and
prescriptions for children through organization like Choice Pantry and First
UMC Pantry of Middletown. Emergency assistance is provided to individuals and
families in need of food, essential non-food items, temporary financial
assistance, job readiness and crisis counseling. These important ministries
strengthen the residents of Middletown, Monroe and Trenton with resources to
achieve self-sufficiency, and improve the quality of their lives.
Habitat For Humanity – Why not grab
a hammer and help us support the local Tri-State Habitat for Humanity
ministry. This organization helps
financially challenged, or those living in substandard housing, build a
suitable in which to live. We
encourage our members and attenders to contribute
their time and skills to help build homes. For more information visit www.habitat-tristate.org
Homeless Shelters - We support
the local homeless shelter, Hope House in Middletown, which provides safe,
temporary shelter in a clean environment, three meals each day, clothing and
personal care items. They also offer case management to assist residents in
finding the help they need to resolve their situation. Through our financial resources, collection
of paper products and food, and meal/serving preparation throughout the year,
we work to help those who have basic housing needs. Additionally, we
contribute to help connect people who care, with people in need through
Interfaith Hospitality Network of Warren County. Besides housing and food, this ministry
also attempts to provide childcare for families while they are working or
seeking employment.
Kairos Prison Ministry of Ohio – This
ministry brings the Gospel to prisoners in the Lebanon and Warren County
Correctional Institutions and other prisons.
Routinely, we invite members and attenders
at Monroe to bake cookies and sponsor prisoners who participate in the
weekend. We also house the team
members on our church campus during the weekend and provide meeting space in
preparation for the Kairos weekends.
McCurdy School in New Mexico – This
mission was started in 1912 as a mission project of the United Brethren
Church with 4 students. They now are
part of The Advance of the United Methodist Church and serve approximately 350
students from pre-school through grade 12.
Mission teams share their time, talents and funds for building
projects for the school. We collect
and send Campbell Soup labels and Box Tops for Education that helped buy vans
for transportation and other school supplies.
McCurdy School is located in Espanola, NM visit them at www.mccurdy.org
Missionaries and Para-church Ministries – Support of
missionaries and para-church ministries like Campus
Crusade for Christ is important. We
frequently support overseas missionaries and/or young adults serving through
Campus Crusade for Christ which works to spread the Gospel of Jesus to
teenagers. These adults serve in
various places throughout the continental United States and many places
world-wide. For more information visit
their website http://www.ccci.org/
Mitten Tree – is a United Methodist Women sponsored
outreach program where members of the congregation can place children’s
gloves, mittens, hats and scarves on the branches of the tree to aid children
and youth in our area. This drive
takes place during the Christmas season.
One Way Farm –This is a home for abused, abandoned and
troubled children. We normally host
an annual picnic for the children with food, games and prizes. We have donated items for their Thrift
Store and helped with painting and cleaning. Last year we donated backpacks
and all their school supplies, including scientific calculators, for all the
children at our annual picnic.
Operation Christmas Child – We
participate annually in this exciting ministry. Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian
organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around
the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who
are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the
purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. www.samaritanspurse.org
Reb Bird Mission
and Clinic - have been
providing ministries in this region of the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky
since 1921. Today the need remains critical in this isolated, rural
distressed area. Chronic poverty, lack of jobs, poor housing, and rugged
mountainous terrain provide obstacles to a fuller life for the residents of
this area. Red Bird Mission and Clinic strives to meet these needs through
ministry in five areas: Education, Health and Wellness, Community Outreach,
Economic Opportunity, and Community Housing Improvement. We are working to
support this effort through mission trips and our financial gifts.
Other World Missions and United Methodist
Specials Ministries – We reach out throughout the world supporting
several of the Congo Missions through the Methodist Advance programs. One such ministry is “Nothing But Nets,”
which is an organization that provides mosquito nets for bedding in the Congo
to prevent malaria. Other ministries
we have supported include “Wings of the Morning,” which is a husband and wife
team that help fly people in and out of the Congo to seek medical attention
not available in the Congo; the Nyembo Umpungu Agricultural Program, the Nyembo
Umpungu Community Health Center and the “Nyembo Umpungu Women’s Progress
Program.”
